When you start taking care of yourself, you start feeling better, you start looking better and you start attracting better. It all starts with you.
If you have a busy work and/or home schedule, it can be difficult to prioritize taking some alone time to focus on caring for yourself; some persons even forget that they too need taking care of, altogether. After a long week of 5/6 AM wakeups and constantly being on the go, having a weekend focused solely on taking care of myself is always on top of my list of priorities. Having an entire day to yourself may be challenging or even impossible, depending on your responsibilities, but it’s super important to carve out even an hour or two from your busy schedule, to focus solely on taking care of yourself. I’m sure you’ve probably heard this countless times, but it’s definitely true that we perform our best when we are feeling our best. We cannot pour from empty cups, which is why it is so important to ensure that we first take good care of ourselves, before aiming to give to external factors.
Self-care may look a whole lot different to one person than the other, but as long as whatever activity you choose to indulge in gives you positive vibes and a sense of rejuvenation, that’s all that really counts. I decided to put together a list of some of my favourite things to do when indulging in a weekend of self-care. If you are seeking new ideas of things you can add to your self-care routine (or ideas for getting started, if you don’t already have one), then keep reading.
Sleep in longer than the usual
Sleeping in longer than usual, or even just being awake but deciding to laze around in bed is the best way to kickstart a weekend of self-care (in my opinion:). If you’re use to late nights and early mornings then believe me, as simple as it may seem, having that one day where no alarms are set, a day where you can get lost in the sheets for hours past your usual schedule and wake up naturally, is a major way to treat yourself. Getting enough sleep is so important, and will not only boost your energy, but will also get you in the right mood to start your day. If you don’t have that one day where you sleep in longer than the usual, I definitely recommend assigning a day for this. You could also try heading to bed earlier, if sleeping in isn’t an option for you.

Read at Leisure
Catching up on some reading is always apart of my self-care routine. You know that book you’ve been wanting to read, but haven’t found the time to? Taking some time for yourself to just indulge in reading a good book can really put your mind at ease. Even if it’s just a few pages, you’ll most likely feel good that you were able to do this. If you’re an avid reader, then I’m pretty sure this is already apart of your normal routine.
Mini Spa Day
This is probably the most enjoyable part of my self-care routine. Spending some extra time to do a facial, washing and deep conditioning my hair, and just paying extra attention to taking good care of my body is definitely an essential part of my routine. I’m sure we all like having healthy hair and skin, so taking that time to do what’s necessary to help with this is important.

Watch a movie/series
I rarely ever watch series or movies during the week, so I definitely use a portion of my self-care weekend to binge watch series, and not feel guilty about it. It’s important to be productive and use your time wisely, but I think it’s just as important to have that time where you relax and watch whatever you want.
“Fall in love with taking care of yourself- mind, body and spirit”
Often times, some of the simplest changes can make the biggest impact on our lives. Adding in even one thing to your daily/weekly routine to ensure you’re taking good care of yourself can make a huge difference to your wellbeing. It’s like I said, even if you don’t have a full day to focus solely on taking care of yourself, carving out even an hour a day can do wonders.
I hope you found something useful from this blog, and will focus more on taking good care of yourself. Feel free to leave some tips in the comments- I’d love to hear what you do on the weekend/ during the week to practice self-care. Until next time, xoxo.
